Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) 18001

What is OHSAS 18001?

OHSAS 18001 was developed for an auditable and certifiable safety management system by a number of the world's leading standards bodies, certification bodies and specialist consultancies in response to widespread demand.

OHSAS 18001 grew out of the success of internationally recognized quality and environmental standards ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, respectively.

OHSAS 18001 mirrors the ISO quality and product liability and environmental assessment systems used worldwide. The elements and components of OHSAS 18001 track topically and numerically with the ISO systems.

OHSAS 18001 is comprised of five program elements:

1

Occupational health & safety policy planning

2

Implementation & operation

3

Checking & corrective action

4

Management review

5

Management system continuous improvement loop

This system helps you integrate your health and safety program into your company's management system.
