Bureau Veritas Back System

There's no easy or quick solution to the problem of back injuries. But our team approach — combining Bureau Veritas technical specialists, claim representatives, and medical management staff — can help you develop a successful program to control your costs.

We use a four-part approach, working with your facility managers to help prevent injuries and assist injured workers.

Back System Four-Part Approach:

1. The Specialist - A Bureau Veritas ergonomics consultant helps plan, develop, train and facilitate the program.

2. The Plan - The specialist helps formulate an action plan that targets specific problems and helps create a task force.

3. The Kickoff - The action plan is presented to the task force and provides training in:

    • Back anatomy and risks of injury
    • Engineering, administrative and work practice controls
    • Behavior modification
    • Return-to-work/post-injury management strategies
    • Prioritizing the action plan

4. Follow-through - The specialist can attend post-training meetings and act as a technical resource to the task force. This continues until the task force is confident on its own; however, the specialist is always available, as needed.

A Difference You Can Measure

A large retail client was experiencing a high number of back strains and related incurred costs. Within seven months of implementing the Bureau Veritas back system the company had reduced:

  • Lost workdays by 85 percent
  • Total incurred dollars on lost-time cases by 72 percent
  • Strain injuries that resulted in lost workdays by 56 percent
